Mobile Number Portability from Idea

November 21, 2014  •  204 comments

Idea Cellular MNP.  The process of porting Idea mobile number to another Mobile operator is so simple & easy. Just follow the below 4-steps simple process to port successfully:

  1. Know your Mobile Number Porting eligibility

    • Call the customer-care of the new Mobile operator you wish to port and understand their pre-requisites, documents required and terms & conditions. You can read these in their CAF (Customer Application Form) or ask their executive.
    • If you wish to port-out, fill the CAF & Porting Form. To fill these forms, you will need Unique Porting Code.
  2. Get UPC (Unique Porting Code)

    • Send SMS in below format to obtain UPC from Idea Cellular:
      • PORT xxxxxxxxxx to 1900. Replace X’s with your 10-digit Idea mobile number.
    • If you are from Jammu & Kashmir and a pre-paid subscriber, call 1900 to get the UPC.
    • Idea will provide an auto generated 8 digits UPC; first two characters are alphabets & rest of six is numerical characters.
  3. Mobile Number Porting request

    • Submit the duly filled CAF & Porting Form to your new mobile operator. Below details are mandatory:
      • UPC (Unique Porting Code)
      • Documents required by your new Mobile Operator
      • Last bill paid receipt from Idea, if you are a post-paid subscriber
    • Get new SIM card from your new Mobile operator.
    • Your new Mobile operator may charge Rs. 19/- as porting charges.
    • Note: You can cancel MNP request only within 24 hours from submitting the CAF & Porting Form. Read Idea Cellular MNP FAQ’s.
  4. Activation of your ported Mobile number

    • If your porting request from Idea is accepted, your new Mobile operator will confirm the same in 3-4 working days.
    • Your new Mobile operator will inform you the date & time of when the porting will happen, by SMS.
    • On 7th Working day, you will be ported to your new Mobile operator. If you are from Jammu & Kashmir, Assam & North East, it will be on 15th working day.
    • There will be about 2-4 hours service disruption during the porting process, mostly during night only.
    • Replace your current Idea SIM card with new SIM card provided by your new Mobile operator.

      Hello Sagar,

      1) Normally Rs.19/- is MNP charges, most of the time this will be waived off / discounted by new operator.
      2) SIM charges, depends on the operator and type of SIM you need (Normal, Mini or Micro)
      3) All the balances and packs will be expired, once you moved to new operator.
      4) Mumbai – Idea: Mr. Milind Manjrekar, Ph- 9702012888

    Hi TELECOMDIARY,
I am a idea karnataka prepaid customer but i am on roaming since last 7 months and i am not able to connect to any customer care number(121, 12345, 198 etc). Only number getting connected is 9844012345 which is paid and puts on hold for long.
i have experienced many irrelevant deductions and want to discuss them or else i’ll switch to another operator. Please give me a contact number which is toll free and can connect on roaming

As per Idea, You can dial 12345 from your Idea connection when roaming using Idea network.
Else visit their web-portal and use contact page.

    Hi,

I have requested for MNP from Vodafone to Idea.First a fall it took almost one month for permission from Vodafone with different reasons. Yesterday(12-08-14) I received message from Vodafone that ‘your number portability request is approved and you will receive date time schedule for portability’ . But since, 13-08-14 morning there is no vodafone network n no message also. So I tried Idea sim, it is displaying full range but for incoming and outgoing calls it says ” This number is incorrect. Please check the number” . And no incoming or outgoing messages. Please guide for the same and try to resolve the problem. My mobile numbers are 9923750737,9923750738.

    Thanks,
    Bhakti

      Hello Gaurav,

Before giving porting request, you have to clear all the pending bills. Read MNP FAQ’s.
Whether you provide the Bill receipt or not to new copy, your current Mobile operator will nor release your number, if bills are not paid 100%.

I recently ported from BSNL to Idea. After porting I was not able to receive incoming calls from uninor subscribers. Contacted customer care many times but no use. Still the same issue. Getting an error message of “THIS NUMBER DOESN’T EXIST” when the uninor customers contacting me. The same issue with all poted-in Idea customers. Confirmed with my friend. Please resolve the issue.

      Hello Sampat,

You can port your mobile number within same circle only, either Mumbai – Mumbai or Maharashtra – Maharashtra.
Confirm with your mobile operator about the telecom circle.
