Now you can change your Mobile operator without changing your Mobile number, by availing Mobile Number Portability services.
This guide is for current Idea subscribers. If you want to become Idea subscriber using Number portability and keep your current mobile number, read Idea MNP.

Idea Cellular subscribers avail Number portability service.
For Idea MNP, follow the below simple 3 Steps to switch your Idea number to other using number porting services.
Step 1
Obtain “Unique Porting Code” from your current Mobile operator – Idea.
Send SMS ‘PORT <your 10 digit mobile number>’ to 1900 from your Idea mobile to get Unique Porting Code.
Step 2
Call executive of your desired Mobile operator, fill CAF (Customer Application Form) & Porting form or visit their office.
Submit the form with required documents like photo ID, Address proof, also if you are a post-paid customer submit your last bill & last bill paid receipt.
Step 3
Obtain a New SIM card from your new mobile operator.
You will receive an acknowledgement SMS from +1901 within 4 days for your Idea Portability request. Within 3 days from then you will receive SMS from +1901 confirming your port out request succesful.
After 12pm midnight, mobile services from Idea will be stopped and you will have to use the New SIM obtained from another Mobile Operator keeping your current mobile number.

If your mobile number belongs to Mumbai and now in Pune, there will be no roaming charges applicable as both cities are in Maharastra state.

Although MNP seems a simple process, it involves lot of complications and again different from every mobile operator. Check these below:-
Have you submitted all the required documents to Idea cellular? Have you got the new SIM card from Idea cellular?
If you are a postpaid customer, do you have any pending bills needs to pay to Aircel or even un-billed amount?
Still not found a solution, talk to that Idea cellular officer / executive to get the status of your MNP or call their customer care.

i have requested to convert my airtel no. 9958161882 to idea post paid via MNP and the documents have been collected by sh. surjeet field boy form your office 15 days ago but till today despite my repeated request made to your office but all in vain and my connection has been postpaid till today plz look into the matter personally and call me along with out comes of the same otherwise i will seek remedial measure else where.

This is for your information.
To port any mobile number, the donor operator (in your case, Airtel) has to release the mobile number so that the new mobile operator (in your case, Idea) will activate their services with old mobile number. You will have to be a customer with Donor for more than 90 days for them to release the mobile number.
So, check with Airtel, whether you have any pending bills (even un-billed)? Do you got your fancy mobile number for free (if any)? ask them whether they received any porting request?

I have tried to contact Idea but they are giving no proper reply though it is already more than 10 days after getting Unique Porting ID and submitting the required documents to Airtel office.
